“I made it through my daughters sweet sixteen”

I did it guys, I threw my first real birthday party for my daughter Heaven. I don’t know how I pulled it off lol. It was very stressful I have to say and I am not sure I would want to do it again, but it was worth all the stress to see her beautiful smile. I have been planning this sweet sixteen since December of 2016 and still was not fully prepared when the actual date rolled around. I kept telling myself oh I have time, it months from now. It went from months, to weeks to days away and there was still so much I had not done. Thank goodness I have friends and family who love my daughter as much as I do and came together to help me make this Sweet Sixteen a success.

The theme of the party was Winter Wonderland because my daughter was born on the first day of winter. The colors were royal blue, silver and white. Her court wore white, immediate family wore royal blue, her guest wore black and I wore silver. The center pieces was wine glasses I brought from Dollar Tree and designed myself with the help of a coworker. I brought a lot of decorations in bulk from Amazon which was not only a money saver but a life saver. I used Etsy for my custom items, and catered food from a Puerto Rican restaurant and a Jamaican restaurant. The DJ & MC was a childhood friend who did an amazing job and my photographer also a childhood friend captured all the love and support. The beautiful cake was made by Sweet T’s Bakeshop in Haddonfield, NJ and Heaven’s makeup was done by the beautiful Bianca Marie “The beauty Maven”

The day before and the day of the party was the most stressful because some of the items did arrive yet in the mail but I have to say with all the running around and praying that everything turns out right, I really think the party was a complete success. Everyone had a great time and complimented the party design. The end result is that my daughter had a great time and that is all that mattered to me.

There were a few negatives, people not RSVPing. I don’t know how hard it is to say I cannot make it to your party. People who did RSVP but didn’t show up, because I just have money to waste and people showing up who did not RSVP. With all of that it still was everything we hoped.

If you have any questions on how I saved money and how everything came together you can leave a question here on my webpage. I am so happy it is over, as happy as I was to see my daughter smile and dance the night away, it took all of my energy. I just hope 3yrs from now my 13yr old does not want a sweet sixteen. I am going to offer her a trip because this was a lot of work. I don’t know how party planners do it, but I can see why people hire them. I love to plan stuff too but I will stick to backyard Bar B Q’s, I am not built for this life lol.
